The purpose of this project was to assist South Africa's Dept of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) and other interested parties to learn from the experience of current projects in coastal poverty reduction and so improve the development of sound evidence-based coastal policies, strategies and implementation. The lesson learning process focussed on: (i)the process of establishing and implementing coastal interventions to improve poor people’s livelihoods; and (ii)The implications of the lessons for informing policy.
