Training Courses 2010

We will be running 3 accredited training courses in planning, implementing and managing pro-poor development interventions between January and March 2010

Course 1: Sustainable Livelihoods for Development

Water.small.jpgA 4-day Accredited Certificate Course for managers, development practitioners and advisers from government and development agencies who want to understand the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach (SLA) and how to apply it in their work. This course is accredited at South Africa National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 5.

This training will help participants understand some of the latest thinking about how the development system must be transformed to ensure that livelihoods of the poor are improved, and how the sustainable livelihoods approach can be utilized to achieve the designed impact in the improvement of people’s livelihoods. Course 2: Facilitation of Community-based Planning

A 12-day Accredited Graduate level course that aims to ground CBP.Ghana.jpgMunicipal Managers, IDP Managers and Participation Managers in the methodology and art of facilitating participatory Ward Plans, and their integration into IDPs. This course has been accredited at South Africa National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 5.

The workshop will include an introduction to the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach (SLA) as well as theories, methodologies and tools on how to undertake a participatory Community-based Planning. The objective of the Community Based Planning (CBP) is to develop realistic community-based plans for policy change, implementing or piloting planning systems, where participating institutions have committed to taking these plans forward. Course 3: Managing for Impact in Development

M4I.Training.JPGA 12-day Accredited Graduate level course for development programme and project managers who want to learn how to design, implement and manage holistic, pro-poor development interventions that will achieve greater impact. This course has been accredited at South Africa National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 8.

The workshop will include theories, methodologies and tools in the managing for impact approach. The core topics will include strategic and operational planning,  and participatory monitoring and evaluation from  the managing for impact perspective. Managing for Impact: a holistic learning experience

 IMG_2086.jpgKhanya-aicdd and the Centre for Development Support (University of the Free State) recently hosted an 11-day Certificate Course to improve planning, implementation and evaluation for pro-poor programmes. The course drew participants from Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
